All contributions are acknowledged.
Activities currently supported by the Foundation include:
Phyllis Richards Leadership Grants – awarded to chapter members to help defray expenses of attending Delta Kappa Gamma leadership events. Since 2011, twenty chapter members have received more than $6700 in Richards Grants.
Supporting Early-career Educators (SEE) – a project that supports early-career teachers in selected Austin area schools. This year the project directly serves 25 teachers in four elementary schools. The project focuses on encouraging teachers to remain in the teaching profession and offers personal, professional, and financial support. Epsilon Kappa members volunteer to mentor the early-career educators in a variety of ways.
Funds contributed to the SEE Project are used to purchase needed instructional materials or equipment for early-career educators. Financial support comes from members of the chapter and the community as well as fundraisers at chapter meetings. In addition, for the 2018-2019 school year, the project has received grant funding from the DKG Educational Foundation. Early-career educators receive classroom supplies such as pencil sharpeners, bulletin board materials, etc., as well as iPads and Osmo learning systems for classroom use.
